What is the Cummins Matching Gifts Program?
The Cummins Matching Gifts program allows employees to donate money on a regular basis to one or more charities. The charity must be a deductible gift recipient (DGR) which means that donations to the charity are deductible for taxation purposes. Employees who donate money to charities that are a recognised DGR, and who also satisfy the Cummins Foundation set criteria, the Cummins Foundation will match each donation made dollar for dollar.

What is the Cummins Foundation Criteria?
The Cummins Foundation will match dollar for dollar donations to charities which satisfy one or more of the three set criteria of environment, education or social justice. Further information on the three set criteria is available by clicking here. Can I only donate money to those charities recognised by the Cummins Foundation?
No, employees can donate to any charity that is a recognised deductible gift recipient (DGR), and which has been published on the list of approved and/or nominated charities. A list of approved and nominated charities will be made available here.

What if my preferred charity is not on the approved charity list?
You can at any time nominate additional charities for consideration and inclusion on the approved charity list by using the charity nomination form available on the matching gifts information pamphlet. Click here to view the pamphlet.  Nominated charities must satisfy the criteria of a deductible gift recipient (DGR) in order to be eligible for inclusion in the nominated charities list.

All charities included on the nominated charities list, will be forwarded to the Cummins Foundation for consideration of eligibility and approval to have donations made by employees matched dollar for dollar.

How do I donate to a charity included on the approved charity list?
All donations made to a charity or charities by employees, must be made through the Cummins South Pacific payroll in order to be eligible for the Cummins Matching Gifts program. Please contact CBS HR to obtain the appropriate payroll deduction form.

Can I make a donation anytime I like?
No. The Cummins Matching Gifts Program operates through the Cummins South Pacific payroll system.  If you are paid fortnightly, you must donate fortnightly, or if someone is paid monthly they must donate monthly.  All donations will be deducted in accordance with the pay cycle of the employee.

Is there a minimum amount I must donate?
Yes. A minimum of $1.00 must be deducted for each charity nominated, on each pay cycle of the employee.

Are the donations made from my pre or post taxable salary?
Donations to approved charities are deducted from employee pay after tax has been deducted. Allowable tax deductions will be required to be made by individual employees at the end of each financial year via their normal taxation arrangements.

Are donations paid to my nominated charities when I am on leave?
As long as you receive a fortnightly or monthly salary payment during the pay cycle, donations will be deducted and paid to your nominated charity or charities.

Is there a maximum number of charities that I can donate to from the approved charity list each pay?
There is no limit to the number of charities you can nominate to donate to from the approved charity list.

Can I make a one-off donation to a charity listed on the approved charity list?
Yes. You are permitted to make a one-off donation of $2.00 or more through the Cummins payroll system in the month of June or December each year. Please contact the Cummins payroll department (CBS HR) for further information.

What if I want to stop my donations to an approved charity?
You can cease your donations at any time. Please contact CBS HR for further information.

Who is eligible to participate in the Cummins Matching Gifts program?
Anyone who receives payment through the Cummins South Pacific payroll system can participate in the Cummins Matching Gifts program.

Are all employees required to participate in the Cummins Matching Gifts program?
No. The Cummins Matching Gift Program is entirely voluntary.

What if I donate to an approved Cummins Foundation Charity outside the payroll?  Will the Cummins Foundation still match my donation dollar for dollar?
No. Only those donations made through the Cummins South Pacific payroll to approved Cummins Foundation charities will be eligible to have their donations matched dollar for dollar.

How will I know how much I have donated to charities?
A record of the amount you have paid to your nominated charity or charities will be available on your payslip each pay cycle. Please contact CBS HR if you require further information.

How do I claim the donations I have made through the payroll as a tax deduction at the end of the year?
A record of the total amount you have paid to your nominated charity will be available on your group certificate at the end of each financial year. Please contact CBS HR if you require further information.

Will the charity or charities I donate to be supplied with my personal details?
No. Information identifying individual donors will only be supplied if written consent is received from the donor. The approved charities will receive a bulk direct deposit monthly. Those charities that satisfy the Cummins Foundation criteria will receive a direct payment from the Cummins Foundation on a periodic basis to match dollar for dollar the total donations made by Cummins employees through the payroll.
