A better future for young Australians in need.
Every child deserves a chance.
To create opportunities for young Australians in need by providing long-term support for their participation in education.
There are over 605,000 children in Australia living in a household with no working parent. Research shows that helping a child to make the most of their education is one of the most effective ways of breaking the cycle of disadvantage.
The Smith Family works to provide support to disadvantaged Aussie kids through providing them with an annual payment to cover essential school items such as school shoes, books, stationery and school excursions. They also provide mentoring and a range of other programs to help keep these kids engaged with their education and to give them the best chance to realise their potential.
The Smith Family operates in 97 communities across Australia and supports disadvantaged children from
pre-school and primary school, to senior school and through tertiary studies if they choose. We believe that education has the power to transform lives, not just minds.
